AC4ALD

Welcome to the Awareness Campaign for Adrenoleukodystrophy Site!

There are many ways that others can help!

Attention please: This page and the AC4ALD site is less than 24 hours old and I am still in the progress of refinement! Please bare with me as I am doing all of this while caring for a post transplant ALD boy! Yes ALD is that important that I am doing this while I care for my number one priority, my children

Here I will cover the many ways that anyone can help with the Awareness Campaign for Adrenoleukodystrophy! Some of them cost absolutely nothing you only need to take the time to learn and pass information on to everyone you know and meet!

  1. Take the time to learn a little about Adrenoleukodystrophy by visiting the home page for AC4ALD! There you will find a wealth of links containing much information about Adrenoleukodystrophy. Pass what you learn on to others the best that you can. Simply giving them the AC4ALD DOT COM site name by cause others to become interested!
  2. Support the Awareness Campaign for Adrenoleukodystrophy! You can do this by visiting the AC4ALD blog and becoming a reader of it and passing it on. If you utilize Twitter as a source of social communication follow http://twitter.com/otoole4info the creator of this page. More than just ALD information is brought forth by otoole4info.

Another huge way to help with Adrenoleukodystrophy and many other diseases and disorders!

"Be A Hero, Become A Donor" www.bahbad.org

The Be A Hero, Become A Donor Foundation was inspired by a vibrant three-sport athlete who was diagnosed with a genetic metabolic disease at the age of nine.
That disease was Adrenoleukodystrophy. The boy's name was Evan Cousineau, he is no longer here with us. Although his life was taken much too early, he is guiding and watching over a vast number of us from above. The Be A Hero, Become A Donor Foundation hosts drives all across the United States of America and incorporates all three of the ways you can do your part to give life which I cover below. "Be The Match" "Give Blood" "Donate Life"

  1. Children who have developed the cerebral from of ALD will more than likely need a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) & potentially other blood related transfusions during the process.
    • Please take the time to consider becoming a donor! You could potentially save another's life! Some Bone Marrow recipients may not be able to have a related marrow donor. In these cases it is vital that more join the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) registry, "Be The Match." I encourage you to take the time and learn more, consider this please. You could "Be The Match" to save a life.
    • Please also take the time to consider donating blood as many ALD boys and so many others in various situations are dependent upon it. Visit the American Red Cross for more information on how you can do this.
  2. The next link doesn't directly relate to that of Adrenoleukodystrophy affected children, but is equally important!
    • Consider becoming an organ, eye or tissue donor. Donate Life!

Perhaps you have it in your heart to donate a part of you but because of a health circumstance you can't. You can still help! Contact one of the above links, they are always interested in seeking volunteers to help in their drive to help other human beings survive.

Perhaps you may be interested in making donations to some fabulous Foundations in the search for a cure! I will bring you their links here!
